Luke Akehurst MP Visits Star Pelaw Greyhound Stadium

On 23rd May, Luke Akehurst MP paid a visit to Star Pelaw Greyhound Stadium to learn about the Keep Welfare On Track campaign and hear about the important contribution the stadium makes to his North Durham constituency.

Mr Akehurst met with GBGB Commercial Director, Mark Moisley, and Star Sports’ Head of Greyhound Operations, Kim Sanzone, to discuss the impact of GBGB regulation and how a statutory levy on greyhound racing would allow us to continue to protect and promote greyhound welfare for years to come.

During his visit, Mr Akehurst toured the stadium visiting the kennelling area and the vet’s room and learning about the many safeguards that are in place to keep greyhounds well looked after whenever they are at the track.

Following the visit, Mark Moisley said:

“I am grateful to Luke Akehurst for taking the time to visit Star Pelaw. We had an excellent discussion about our campaign for a statutory levy on greyhound racing and I look forward to engaging further with Mr Akehurst on this issue in the future.”
